Thanks to the hard work of Tara Ramsey, the 1st UK Open championships were held at Naburn Station Hostel nr York from 14-16 August 2015. 7 UK entrants and 4 overseas entrants competed with the help of 4 local players who combined to make a 12th player.
After 4 rounds the top 4 scores belonged to: 1st Guy Atkinson (visiting from Spain) 2nd John McCullough (UK) 3rd Maurice de Wijs (Netherlands) 4th Arnold de Wijs (Netherlands). In a tense final John played Prussia/Hanover against Guy (Austria/Imperial Army), Maurice (France & later inherited Imperial Army) and Arnold (Russia/Sweden). John eventually saw off Russia & France and fended off the Imperial Army and Sweden but succumbed to Guy's Austria. Congratulations Guy - our first champion!
